Dr. Robert Grunstein, DMD
As the founder of Smile Central Dental, Dr. Grunstein – or Dr. G as he is affectionately called by his patients, was formally trained at Temple Dental Kornberg School of Dentistry and graduated in 2001. Upon graduation Dr. Grunstein began his career working in Paterson at a busy inner city dental clinic where he recognized the acute need for greater access to affordable dental services in the community.
Dr. Grunstein spends much of his time educating the community and policy makers of the importance of dental care for all children. He has been recognized with many prestigious awards for his innovative approach to dentistry in pioneering the concept of the Cavity Fighter truck, a mobile dental operatory. Dr. Grunstein is the recipient of the Richard Tannis Youth Service Award for his work in promoting children’s dental health in NJ. In addition he has served on the Mayoral Task Force Committee to further promote wellness in Paterson. He has also been recognized by Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies, NJ Horizon Healthcare, Yeshiva University and the State of NJ General Assembly for his work. He as been lauded in many publications, including The New York Times, Bergen Record and the Star Ledger for his commitment to dental health outreach.
Dr Grunstein works tirelessly to raise awareness of access to dental healthcare for children and the importance of preventative dental health. When he is not working on children’s dental health, Dr. Grunstein is home playing with his own three children.
Cecilia Mescain holds a Bachelors in Finance from William Paterson. She has been working in the dental field since 1995 and is a member of American Association of Dental Office Managers and the American Dental Assistants Association. Currently she is working on her fellowship from the AADOM as well as her DANB (Dental Assistants National Board) certification. When she is not busy working or studying she can be found cooking and spending time with her children.

Dr. Rebecca Liu, DDS
Dr. Rebecca Liu attended Rutgers University, New Brunswick and recieved my DDS degree from Columbia University in New York City. Thereafter, she completed her training at New York Methodist hospital at Park Slope. Dr. Liu lives in Brooklyn with her husband and cat Boots. When she has some free time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and traveling.
Dr. Jessica Marinoff, DMD
Dr. Marinoff, or Dr. Jess as her patients affectionately call her, comes to us from Philadelphia, PA. She completed her residency at Virtua-West Jersey Hospital and received her DMD from the University of Pennsylvania where she completed her undergraduate studies as well. Dr. Jess is a big sports fan and follows the NY Jets and the Philadelphia Phillies. She enjoys tennis, cooking, and traveling.
Dr. Jonathan Noll, DMD
Dr. Jonathan Noll received his DMD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ in 2002 and completed his residency at Monmouth Medical Center in 2003. He has been working with Smile Central for over 6 years. In his spare time he collects, reads and writes comic books.
Dr. Vairagi Shah, DDS
Dr. Shah received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from NYU and her post Baccalaureate from University of Pennsylvania. IN addition she holds a BA in Economics and BS in management Science and Information Systems. During her free time, Dr. Shah enjoys giving back to the community. She has volunteered in the Special Olympics and was a participant in the Oral Cancer Walk.
Dr. Pearl Unterman, DMDS
Although Dr. Pearl is new to our dental staff, she began her Smile Central career as a dental assistant and soon discovered her true passion in dentistry. Currently, Dr Pearl holds a DMD from Temple University and is back at Smile Central Dental treating patients and giving back to the community. While not at Smile Central , Dr. Pearl lives and works in Philadelphia where she is honing her skills in general dentistry and is also involved in the Alliance for Oral Health Across Borders, an international initiative promoting peace through oral health. In her spare time she loves hiking, scuba diving and photography.
